A personal project using the OpenAI API for project management.
Project TL;DR
My thesis explored the possibility of integrating OpenAI with a GitHub repository, enabling a seamless connection between Project Management tools and developer workflows. The central idea was to automate the process of generating code snippets and suggestions as tasks are created in the Project Management tool. This approach aimed to enhance developer efficiency by providing timely and relevant insights during the development process.
User Research
I proactively reached out to developers and product managers across multiple platforms, including Slack, Discord, and Reddit, to establish a collaborative dialogue. This engagement served a dual purpose: to gather valuable feedback on the overarching concept and to rigorously test the outputs generated through the integration of OpenAI and GitHub. By actively involving stakeholders from diverse channels, I aimed to ensure a comprehensive assessment of the feasibility, effectiveness, and user-friendliness of the proposed solution. This iterative feedback loop not only enriched the development process but also contributed to refining the system's performance and its alignment with real-world needs.
Outcomes
Being part of the OpenAI frenzy was an exhilarating experience that allowed me to dive deep into the cutting-edge world of AI and natural language processing. One of the pivotal challenges I encountered was tokenization, which emerged as a key concern. The limitations around sending sufficient data back and forth to the API underscored the intricate nature of fine-tuning model inputs and outputs.
Throughout this journey, I embarked on a profound learning curve. Exploring the intricacies of vector databases, delving into the capabilities of Supabase, and immersing myself in the realms of NextUI, I had the opportunity to experiment with unconventional color schemes to create visually engaging interfaces. This hands-on experimentation not only enhanced my technical skills but also broadened my understanding of the intricate interplay between design, functionality, and user experience. The dynamic environment of innovation and exploration during this phase was truly inspiring and enriched my understanding of the evolving landscape of AI technologies.
